Dog Friendly Oregon Coast

Ten Mile Beach Access Ten Mile Yachats

One of the pleasures of my job as a realtor is meeting my clients’ dogs. Sometimes I meet them right at the beginning when people are in town looking at houses. Dogs are welcome to ride along with their owners and me as long as they are friendly and well behaved.

When I work with clients to find a home it involves finding just the right place for everyone, including the family dog. Okay, so not everyone has a dog, but those who do want a home where pup will be happy. Depending on the size and age of the dog we might be looking for a big backyard, fenced, of course, or a home with easy access to walking trails or parks. The good news is that the Oregon Coast is very dog friendly.

Most Oregon State parks and beaches allow dogs and on any sunny day one is likely to see dogs and owners out enjoying the weather. While Oregon allows dogs in many places it does have a leash law so make sure that you come prepared. There are also a few fenced dog parks where your pal can run off leash and make new friends.

Several restaurants in the area have outside seating where dogs are allowed. Nana’s Irish Pub in Nye Beach has a large fenced patio with several tables. Ona’s and Luna Sea Fish House, both in Yachats, also have outdoor seating and allow dogs. Those are just a few of the places where you can enjoy a meal with your furry companion by your side.

On a more practical note, if you are planning a move to the Lincoln County area of the Oregon coast your dog will need a license. You can check out the information on licensing at  https://www.co.lincoln.or.us/animalshelter/page/pet-licensing-information
