Many towns around the country now have food trucks and they are becoming very popular. Newport Oregon only has one food truck but it works a little different than in most cities because it is Mobil. When my husband first came across the “Break Time Catering” food truck it was in front of Pacific Seafood on the bay front. Even though it was early morning (7:15 am) workers formed a line for food. Steve thought it would be great to have a taco for breakfast and so he gave it a try. From then on he was hooked. We walk on the bay front several days a week but didn’t always find the truck and we also looked for him at lunchtime. The next time we saw the truck we, learned the owner’s name is Leno, and Steve asked for his card and phone number. Now when we feel like great Mexican food, we give Leno (owner) a call and find out where he is and we go to him.
The Lincoln County Master Gardeners™ were having a plant sale in May. It is always a challenge to figure out where to go for lunch so I contacted Leno and he came us during the lunch time while we were setting up the plant sale. Most of the volunteers really enjoyed it. We were able to take a break and have lunch together and it has become a part of the sale preparation tradition.
The weekend of the plant sale always coincides with the Rogue Ales Brewer’s Memorial Festival and we saw Break Time Catering there too.
