Life on the coast in Newport Oregon with a dog(s) they will think they are in heaven. My husband and I walk our two Golden Retrievers every morning and as soon as we walk out the door their ears perk up as they hear the roar of the crashing waves, their noses start twitching as the fresh ocean air fill their lungs. When we get to the end of the street both dogs want to make a left turn, because that’s the way to the beach.
Newport is a very dog friendly town and we always meet other dog owners and dog lovers on our walk. The town maintains Dogi Pots where owners can grab a bag and use it to pick up after their pet. We try to bring bags with us when we go for a walk but sometimes we’re caught without one so the bag stations come in handy. Since we walk very early in the morning we let Chewy and DiTTo, our Golden Retrievers run off leash on the beach where they fetch balls, chase seagulls, and meet other dogs. It just doesn’t get any better than this for a dog!
Nye Beach has a foot bath near the turn around where they can get a drink of water; we wash off the ball and head home. We always walk by Stephanie’s Café, and grab cup of coffee to go and they always have a fresh bowl of water at the front door for the dogs to have another drink.
