Realtors always run into interesting dilemmas, this was at a home inspection. The house being inspected was set up as a vacation rental and the vacation rental company and the owners had locked up personal belongings in the eves of the home and put a padlock on to prevent access. The home inspector needed access to the attic eve space in order to see the insulation and roof line and complete the inspection.
Solution? Bolt Cutters, with the seller’s permission. Another tool added to my tool box and the home inspector cut the padlock off and was able to complete the inspection. Of course I had to replace lock, but the inspection was allowed to continue..
