Life on the Oregon Coast means, visitors year round. When we moved to the coast to live here year round I had no idea how many friends and family would be coming to visit.
In March I received a call from my niece who told me her family would be vacationing on the coast for spring break and they’d like to get together for lunch. They have a large family so I thought of the Rogue Ales Public House on the bay front in Newport. When our children were young we always enjoyed going there because the menu included something everyone would like.
After lunch we thought they would enjoy walking along the bay front to the dock and check out the sea lions and fishing fleet at the Port Dock. The sea lions were barking and some were jockeying for position on the dock. As we went to look at the boats we stopped to buy some “live” crab. Then Steve showed them how to make a crab go to sleep.
Living on the Oregon Coast, sometimes we forget about how intriguing fresh fish, crab and can be. It’s always fun to share with our guests.
